Ragdoll Kitten Purchase Agreement & Health Contract

This Ragdoll Kitten Purchase Agreement & Health Contract is a legally binding agreement between Abbey Road Rags ("Breeder"), located in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and the individual(s) identified as the buyer ("Buyer") at the time of purchase.

By accepting delivery of the kitten, both parties agree to all terms and conditions stated herein.

The kitten sold under this Agreement is a purebred Ragdoll registered with TICA (The International Cat Association).

All payments are final and non-refundable unless explicitly stated otherwise in Section 4.

Health Certificate & Fecal Exam: All kittens leave the cattery with a health certificate issued by our licensed veterinarian and a negative fecal exam result. If a fecal exam returns positive for any parasites, kitten pick-up will be postponed until the issue has been fully addressed and the kitten has been retested and cleared.

Mandatory Veterinary Exam: The Buyer must have the kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of taking possession. Failure to do so completely voids all health guarantees.

Life-Threatening Illness Return: If the kitten is diagnosed by a licensed vet within this 72-hour window as having a severe, life-threatening, or fatal medical illness, the Breeder will replace the kitten or issue a refund of the purchase price. The Buyer must provide a signed veterinary report detailing the diagnosis within 24 hours of the exam.

Strict Parasite & Minor Condition Exclusion: The Breeder guarantees that the kitten left the cattery free of visible pests. Because stress from transport can temporarily lower immunity, and environmental transmission happens instantly, this guarantee strictly excludes cosmetic, transient, or treatable conditions. The Breeder will not pay vet bills or offer refunds for: external parasites (fleas, ticks, mites); internal parasites/protozoa (coccidia, giardia, tapeworms, roundworms); minor upper respiratory infections (URIs) or stress-induced sneezing; Feline Herpesvirus (FHV-1) flare-ups triggered by rehoming stress.

Hereditary Conditions: The Breeder guarantees the kitten against fatal genetic defects — specifically including Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) and Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) — until the kitten reaches 1 year of age.

Genetic Remedy: If the kitten dies or must be humanely euthanized due to a proven genetic defect within this 1-year window, the Breeder will replace the kitten from the next available litter of equal value. A certified necropsy report from a licensed veterinarian confirming genetic cause of death is mandatory to claim a replacement.

Limitation of Liability: Under no circumstances is the Breeder financially responsible for veterinary bills, tests, or medical treatments incurred by the Buyer.

Strictly Indoors: This cat must live exclusively indoors. Ragdolls lack defensive instincts and are targets for theft, traffic, and predators.

No Declawing: The Buyer explicitly agrees never to declaw this kitten. Declawing is a painful bone amputation that causes permanent behavioral and physical damage.

Spay / Neuter Agreement: This kitten is sold as a pet only. The Buyer agrees to spay or neuter the kitten by the date agreed upon below. Breed registration papers will be withheld by the Breeder until proof of sterilization is provided.

No Shelter Surrender: If the Buyer is ever unable to care for or keep this Ragdoll at any point during its lifetime, the Buyer cannot sell, trade, or give the cat to a shelter, rescue group, pet shop, or third party.

Return Policy: The Buyer must contact the Breeder immediately. The Breeder retains the absolute right of first refusal to take the cat back. No refunds will be issued for owner-returned adult cats.

Buyer agrees not to administer the FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) vaccine to the kitten at any time. This is a firm requirement of Abbey Road Rags. Violation of this clause voids all health guarantees.

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Pennsylvania. Any legal disputes must be filed in the Breeder's home county (Bucks County, Pennsylvania).
